Getting the right cable tie for the job in hand is essential in industrial applications where safety has to be a priority. We examine the strongest cable ties in today’s market.
Cable tie tensile strength
How strong, and therefore how reliable a cable tie will ultimately be, is measured by its tensile strength. Tensile strength is a measurement of the maximum load that a cable tie can bear safely without failing, or to put it another way, how durable a cable tie is when subjected to a tensile force. Tensile strength is given in kilograms, for example a nylon cable tie 80mm x 2.5mm has a tensile strength of 8kg which means it will safely bear up to 8kg without being compromised. The higher the tensile strength, the greater the loads a cable tie will be capable of handling.
Loop tensile strength
Similar to tensile strength, the loop tensile strength refers to the minimum load that that the looped part of a fastened cable tie will withstand without compromise. Details of loop tensile strength are provided in the technical data sheets for our nylon cable ties and our metal cable ties.
Cable tie bundle diameter
To ensure your cable tie has sufficient tensile strength, accurate measurements are required so that the correct size cable tie is used for the object/s it will secure. The cable bundle diameter, as the name implies, is the maximum outer diameter of the bundle being secured.
The tensile strength of metal cable ties makes them naturally stronger than nylon ties and the following is the respective strengths of our most popular products:

Best cable ties for scaffolding
In the construction industry, cable ties are used to secure debris netting, the heavy-duty plastic netting used on scaffolding, which protects passers-by from falling debris. Manufactured from an open mesh design fabric, debris netting often has eyelets at the edges and down the middle for fixing. Cable ties are also used to secure scaffold sheeting. Our 4.8mm wide X 300mm nylon 6/6 cable ties are ideal for securing netting and sheeting and are available in packs of 100 cable ties with excellent volume discounts for bulk purchases.
